Rest in the Lord

Welcome to the Sermon Recap!

In our Christian journey, we often find ourselves facing storms, challenges, and uncertainties. But how do we navigate through these turbulent times with unwavering trust in God? This recap is based off Sunday Morning’s sermon and it would be such an honor if you’d give it a listen. The video is linked at the end of the blog.

But for now, let’s look into Romans 1:17 – “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

The Essence of Faith

Romans 1:17 reminds us that the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. This progression from one level of faith to another is crucial in our walk with God. But what does it mean to have faith? Faith is more than just a belief in God’s existence; it’s about complete trust and confidence in His promises.

Matthew 8:26 and Matthew 6:30 shed light on the concept of “little faith.” What is the measure of trust we place in God? Just as a small seed grows into a mighty tree, our faith can grow from a tiny mustard seed to a giant tree of confidence in God.

The Journey of Confidence

Faith, trust, and confidence are interconnected. While faith comes by hearing the Word of God, trust is demonstrated through our actions. It’s like being on a plane. You can have faith in the plane to fly, and trust the pilot to get you where you need to go, but it takes real confidence to sit back and take a nap during some turbulance.

It’s not enough to merely believe in God’s power; we must trust Him enough to act on His promises.

Trusting God is not always easy, especially when we face storms and trials. But it’s in these moments of uncertainty that our trust in God is forged. Just as David faced Goliath with unwavering confidence, we too can declare victory over our adversities knowing that God is with us.

"Now" Faith

Many of us have faith in God’s past works and look forward to His future promises. However, we should embrace “now faith” — a faith that believes God will move in our lives at this very moment. It’s about trusting in His provision, healing, and guidance in the present.

As we journey from faith to confidence, let’s remember that God’s ways are perfect, and His Word is tried and true. Our confidence in Him is not based on our circumstances but on His unchanging nature. Let’s trust in the Lord wholeheartedly, knowing that He is our strength and shield.

In conclusion, Romans 1:17 reminds us that our faith journey is not stagnant; it’s a continual progression toward deeper trust and confidence in God. As we navigate life’s challenges, let’s hold fast to His promises, knowing that He is faithful to fulfill them. May we grow from faith to faith, anchoring our lives in the unwavering love and power of our Heavenly Father.
