Renewing Your Mind | Micah Wynn

Welcome to the First Sermon Recap of 2024!

Happy New Year! This past Sunday, I was preaching in a revival in Alabama at Refuge Church. It was absolutely wonderful to take part in this revival, but the service at MDT Church was equally great! My son, Micah, ministered and I’m going to give you a little recap of his message. Are you ready?

Coming Into Something New...

This January, we are not only stepping into a new year, but also new opportunities and blessings. In January, MDT Church comes together to do a corporate fast and we see some of the greatest miracles happen! Feel free to join in on this fast! It’s a fantastic opportunity to get closer to God!

Imagine a room in your house...

Tidy up the space, paint a new color on the walls, and this room can look completely different. Sometimes, people give up too quickly on themselves. If we will allow the Lord to work in our lives, we can be renewed!

A lot of the time ideas, imaginations, curiosities and doubts, will try to hinder us from fulfilling God’s purpose for us. We get a thought and tend to submit to it, letting it control us and our emotions.

2 Corinthians 10:4-6 – “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”

Here is a Biblical fact – our thoughts can create stress. There is also a physical fact that thoughts can be bad for the body. Negative thoughts can inhibit sleep and weaken the heart. If we look at stress (which is one of the leading destroyers of the heart) and see what it does to our physical body, you can then ask yourself, what is it doing to our spirits?
The Bible says our weapons are not carnal, but mighty. We are equipped with weapons to counteract our thoughts. Some of our thoughts are true and based upon things that are happening to us, but we have the ability to rise above them and not let them control us.

A lot of the time, people will think of prophets as these great people of God that cry out extremes and prophesy about the future things going to happen in the world. While those are prophecies, that is not the only kind of prophet.

A prophet is also someone who can take the Word of God and speak it over their own life and someone else’s. A prophet can use God’s Word to your benefit and prophesy His promises over your life.

Romans 14:17 – For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

We can take the Word of God and curse our evil thoughts with it. Some things want to be your thoughts today, your actions tomorrow, and your character next week. However, you can rebuke these evil things and they don’t have to control who you are tomorrow.

You can walk free, holy, and guided by the Holy Ghost.

Story Time...

Take a moment to read 2 Kings 5:1-14.

We have this mighty man in valor who was a leper. He comes to the prophet’s house and the prophet sends a messenger to tell him to wash in the Jordan river seven times. So, we have a great man thinking some great thing was going to happen when he met the prophet, but you see him standing at the door receiving a message from a man the Bible doesn’t even name to wash in one the nastiest rivers in the land.

Have you ever been in a place where things didn’t go as you expected them to, or how you planned them out? Have you ever been in a time where you sowed the seeds and labored in the field, but things got worse?

Sometimes, we get angry because we didn’t get what we thought God should give us.

Have you ever thought that, sometimes, God is more interested in healing our unbelief than healing our problem. We petition God to fix our problem, but we put Him in a box and limit His ability, thinking He should fix it a certain way.

His ways are higher than our ways. Any solution that we come up with is a massive limitation on our God.

Now, God doesn’t want us to live in pain and suffering. He looks at our problems and says, “Yes, I can fix this, but, my child, you have limited me on how to fix it.” There are times God comes up to our problem to fix it, but He can’t because we have built a wall and put Him behind it.

Here’s a challenge for you in 2024 – increase your faith and let the old limitations fall away.

Unbelief hinders God's plan for your life.

God has specific peace and purpose for our lives and sadly enough, we have been given the power to limit that, and we often do. However, we do not have to live in unbelief. We do not have to limit our God. We can rise above and be more than conquerors through Christ our Savior!

This was a wonderful message and I hope it encourages you. I want to leave you with a PDF that you can print off for your own use. When you are battling a certain thought trying to cast you down, you can turn to Scripture and combat it with the Truth.

I pray you have a blessed day and thank you for reading. I’m excited to see what God has in store for 2024! God bless you always!
